Impact Analyses




Mass impact on Leading Edge PanelCabot is currently involved in the development and application of the Airbus bird-impact analysis methodology.

The activity is supporting an extensive test programme set up to specifically validate the finite element analyses of such events.

Initial results have proven highly satisfactory due to excellent correlation between FEA model and experimental test results.

As a direct result of this work, Airbus expect to make substantial savings in their future bird-impact test programmes.




Tyre Debris Impact on Wing Skin PanelIn addition, detailed analyses of the leading edges of the wings of both the A380 and Nimrod MRA4 aircraft served to support and expedite the design and eventual certification of both aircraft.
